Dec 06, 2005 Weekly Water Saving Tip
Last Updated: 2005-12-06 14:16:27
You are able to turn your irrigation systems off now. You may need to check evergreen trees and bushes in a month or so if we have a dry winter, but other than that you can take a break from irrigating.
While taking a break from landscape water needs, get all of your gardening equipment in shape for next year’s growing season. Sharpen your mower and plan to have it sharpened on a regular basis. A dull mower can cause even more stress on the turf than the need for more water. Plan to get your irrigation system in good working condition. Replace any parts that are broken or in need of repair. Make the repairs now. Check the irrigation supply store for any new products that will aid in saving water. These products will make your life easier, but nothing can replace your constant eye on your garden. The District is offering a rebate on a device that takes the guess work out of when to irrigate. You can find out information on our website at wcwcd.state.ut.us or by calling me.
At this time of year, Washington County Water Conservancy District wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will return in February with more water saving tips. And as always, for further information on the rebate or water saving tips you can contact me, Julie Breckenridge, at 673-3617.
