The Diversity Of Nations

The great appealing concept of a complete consortium of all nations, united and working together for peace and the good of all peoples, is a very emotional, very persuasive doctrine.
Some persons see in this a deliverance and a rebirth. They see an environmentally clean world; they see the end of conflicts and poverty.
Others see overwhelming control and a threat and interference to our freedoms. They see a lust for international power, “one-world” government. All controlled eventually by an immensely powerful UN leadership.
I don’t believe we will have unity of thought and intellectual agreement on the UN among our people in the U.S.-as individuals. The subject of the make-up of the UN and what it stands for and what action it takes and how it operates, will to some, always be suspect. What is written may sometime be in conflict with what is done. There could be diverse ambitions of some forces within the UN.
Despite the listing of “good” the UN claims on their UN web site, it is possible to foresee some danger to U.S. freedom with a growing power, expansion and demands of the UN in some areas.
Have you studied the past voting record and recent displacement of U.S. representatives to key humanitarian positions? The U.S., at times, has been the ‘‘enemy’’ and is quite consistently and overwhelmingly out-voted in the General Assembly. Pure U.S. interest will quite readily be challenged or thwarted by the simple majority or the two-thirds majority of the General Assembly. We have also had some tough times in the Security Council. Here a “nay” vote is a veto.
The UN is very complex; it is huge in size and scope. The UN list of interests to act upon is voluminous. The UN principles, as concepts for philanthropic actions, are fine! Not so fine; is the disparity among UN members of their philosophies and religions and the proposed worldwide solutions on the part of each member nation. This great hodge-podge of nations is made up of these diverse individual nations, each with their own agendas and ambitions.
To receive a long favorable and optimistic report of the UN, I recommend a search and reading of the organization of the UN at www.un.org.
