Let me share with you some information about one of the greatest values in dentistry available in the St. George area; the Dixie State College dental hygiene program.

The current program has 28 students studying to become dental hygienists. To even be accepted into this two year program requires excellent grades, dental office work experience, and several prerequisite courses.
These students work hard and do a great job in helping the community through service projects such as the “Tiny Tots Health Fair” and the Beaver County Health Project. They also spend time with our grade school children in teaching them proper brushing and flossing procedures.

At the college, as part of their clinic work, students provide a very thorough examination and cleaning. This also includes x-rays and cancer screening. All work is done carefully under the supervision of a licensed dental hygienist instructor and a licensed dentist.

If you would like to become a patient you may call 435-652-7874 for an appointment. The cost is minimal with a charge of $18.00 for a cleaning and $12.00 for full mouth x-rays.

If any problems are detected the information, along with x-rays, can be forwarded to your dentist. It does require a patient to attend several appointments. The expenditure is in time rather than money. They have many seniors who participate as patients and return for re-care.
